Main stories
Juventus have officially confirmed the signing of centre-back Jhon Lucumi from Bologna on a contract through June 2030, the club announced after the Colombian completed his medical in Turin. The deal is worth €19.5m payable over three years plus around €600,000 in ancillary costs, with up to €2m more in bonuses, ending a saga that dated back to June and giving Luciano Spalletti a defensive reinforcement less than a week before the season starts.
Napoli have officially confirmed the permanent departure of Romelu Lukaku to Fenerbahce, with the Belgian leaving after two seasons in which he won the Scudetto and the Italian Super Cup. The deal is worth €6m plus €2m in bonuses and a further €1m if Fenerbahce win their league title, and comes as Napoli look to shed the striker's reported €11m gross salary from their wage bill.
Roma remain in advanced talks with Feyenoord over right-back Givairo Read, having raised their offer to around €29m after an initial €25m bid, according to Corriere dello Sport and Europa Calcio. Roma have already reached personal terms with the player on a contract to 2031 worth around €2m per season, but Feyenoord have yet to accept, with Nottingham Forest also in the race after having two lower bids rejected.
The Coppa Italia's round of 32 wrapped up between 14 and 17 August, with Fiorentina, Parma, Cagliari, Monza, Torino, Udinese, Venezia, Frosinone, Genoa and Verona among the sides advancing to the next round.
Transfer and squad notes
Juventus' summer rebuild also includes the permanent signing of Randal Kolo Muani from PSG and the additions of Kerim Alajbegovic and Kenan Celik, giving Spalletti a reshaped squad heading into the new campaign.
AC Milan have spent more than €60m on forward Goncalo Ramos from PSG as part of their own attacking overhaul this summer.
What it means for the league
Juventus enter the season with their defensive rebuild essentially complete following the Lucumi signing, while Napoli's decision to move on Lukaku shows the champions prioritising wage-bill flexibility even after a title-winning campaign. Roma's pursuit of Read, still unresolved with days left before the season opener, illustrates how full-back positions remain a point of competition between Serie A and Premier League clubs this window.
