Rennes beat Marseille 1-0 at Roazhon Park on 11 September, with Adrien Thomasson scoring the only goal in the 52nd minute after Marseille had dominated the first half, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg striking the outside of the net in the 36th minute among their chances.

Luis Enrique showed little concern after the home defeat to Monaco, saying his side deserved to win and that Monaco had simply been more efficient and fortunate, according to Foot Mercato.
