Bayern close on a Brown-Saibari double swoop while holding firm on Olise

Main stories

Bayern Munich are closing in on Eintracht Frankfurt left-back Nathaniel Brown, with reports of a verbal agreement that would see him sign through 2031. The clubs are still apart on the fee — Frankfurt are said to want €60-65m for the 22-year-old, who is contracted until 2030 — but a breakthrough is described as possible within days; the deal is not yet done.

In parallel, Bayern's move for PSV Eindhoven's Ismaël Saibari has reached its closing stages. The Morocco international has agreed personal terms, also reportedly to 2031, but a gap remains over the fee, with Bayern's offer of around €45m plus add-ons short of PSV's €50m-plus valuation; his medical is expected to be carried out in the United States, where he is at the World Cup.

The champions have again moved to shut down talk over Michael Olise, reiterating that the France winger is not for sale despite reported Real Madrid interest. Olise is under contract until 2029 with no release clause.

Transfer and squad notes

Bayern's recruitment may not end there, with kicker reporting continued interest in a striker — Bournemouth's Eli Junior Kroupi — though a valuation said to exceed €100m and heavy competition complicate any move. The interest is unconfirmed by the clubs.

Elsewhere, the league's coaching reshuffle continues to settle, with Bayer Leverkusen having appointed Carles Martínez Novell to succeed Kasper Hjulmand as they refresh their squad under the new head coach.

What it means for the league

Bayern are again setting the pace, lining up two reinforcements while batting away interest in their best attacker — leaving fees, rather than willingness, as the main hold-up on their business. The early market reinforces the gap the champions are trying to preserve over rivals who are themselves rebuilding, several under new management.

With the German window not opening until 1 July and many of the principals away at the World Cup, the bulk of these deals remain agreed in principle rather than completed, and medicals and announcements are being pushed back accordingly.
