Liverpool sign Víctor Muñoz as Man City close on Anderson and Arsenal chase Rogers

Main stories

Liverpool confirmed the signing of Spain winger Víctor Muñoz from Osasuna, triggering a release clause reported at €40m (around £34.5m) and handing the 22-year-old a six-year contract. Per the club and Sky Sports, Liverpool moved ahead of Newcastle — who had already agreed a fee — as well as Manchester United, with Muñoz completing a medical at Spain's World Cup base before the deal was announced.

Manchester City edged closer to a British-record transfer for Elliot Anderson, though Nottingham Forest have so far rebuffed their advances. Sky Sports reported two City bids rejected, with Forest holding out for an up-front fee of around £110m for the England midfielder; further talks are expected, but no agreement has been reached.

Arsenal reached agreement in principle on personal terms with Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers on a deal that would run to 2031, according to reports, but Villa have publicly insisted they have no intention of selling. The clubs are therefore at odds, and the move remains some way from done.

Transfer and squad notes

Bradley Barcola continued to draw Premier League interest, with Arsenal and Liverpool reported by Football365 to be at the front of the queue as the PSG winger's contract talks stall; the situation is reported rather than advanced.

Brighton added to their summer business, completing deals for winger Zadok Yohanna and full-back Costinha, the latter reported at around £11m from Olympiacos, per ESPN's confirmed ins-and-outs tracker.

Tottenham continued to lean on the free-agent market under Roberto De Zerbi, having added Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi on frees alongside the £52m signing of Jan Paul van Hecke, according to Sky Sports' window tracker.

What it means for the league

Liverpool are reshaping their attack after Mohamed Salah's exit, with Muñoz the first of what is expected to be wider rebuilding, while Manchester City's pursuit of Anderson points to another marquee midfield outlay if Forest can be moved. Arsenal's interest in Rogers and Barcola signals an attacking push that hinges on selling clubs softening their stance. With Real Madrid still drawing names out of the league and many targets at the World Cup, the market is set to accelerate once the tournament frees up players.
