Bayern restate Olise is not for sale amid reported Real Madrid interest

What happened

Bayern Munich have once again made clear that Michael Olise is not for sale, pushing back against reported Real Madrid interest in the winger. According to Spanish reporting, Madrid are weighing an offer in the region of €150m and the France international is "fundamentally open" to the idea of a future move, though he is not understood to be forcing an exit. Bayern's hierarchy, by contrast, have repeatedly ruled out any sale.

Why it matters

Olise has become one of the most important players in Bayern's side, and holding on to him is central to a forward line the champions are otherwise looking to refresh. The standoff also pits Bayern's resolve against two of Europe's biggest recruiters — Real Madrid and, in earlier reporting, Liverpool — at a time when the German club is trying to dictate, rather than react to, the market.

Context

Olise joined Bayern from Crystal Palace in 2024 on a deal that runs to 2029 and, as the club has confirmed, contains no release clause. Senior figures including sporting director Max Eberl and honorary president Uli Hoeneß have stated bluntly that he will not be sold "even for €200m", a stance echoed by president Herbert Hainer. The 24-year-old is currently with France at the World Cup after a standout campaign.

What to watch next

The immediate question is whether Real Madrid follow the speculation with a concrete bid and how firmly Bayern reject it, given the absence of a release clause. Olise's own public stance as the window approaches will also be closely read, with the noise likely to persist through the tournament before the German market opens on 1 July. None of the reported interest has been confirmed by the clubs.
